Best known for his novel A Clockwork Orange, Manch Best known for his novel A Clockwork Orange, Manchester-born novelist, poet and playwright Anthony Burgess was also a prolific composer and musician, writing three symphonies and more than 150 other musical works. Among the collection of his pieces for solo piano stands this “Untitled Piano Piece” – a moving, song-like piano composition that award-winning pianist Richard Casey performs with quiet command and heartfelt intensity. Richard’s performance of “Untitled Piano Piece” was filmed at St Elizabeth’s Church in Ashley (Cheshire) and directed by Rino Pucci (Alexine Puglisi, 2nd camera; Stephen Plews, sound engineer). The church, in a lovely rural setting, is late Victorian and over 140 years old and, with its beautiful stained-glass windows and carved pews, provided the perfect setting for such a moving and delicate piece. The video is produced by The Lemon Twist, Manchester.
